Foose Picks Up Right Where He Left Off, Wins Craftsman Shootout! |

(DAYTONA BEACH, FL) The ASRS Camping World Truck Series roared back to life on the high banks of Daytona International Speedway for the fifth running of the Craftsman Shootout, an All-Star Showdown for drivers in the Camping World Truck Series.
Craig Schmidt in the Ford Drive One Ford led the field to the green flag with John Caddell along side. Caddell set sail into the lead, but was caught racing back to the first caution on lap seven as 4 time Truck Series Champion Jim Foose passed to take the lead. Steve Buhala, Justin McLeod, Craig Schmidt and Robert Panko were involved in the caution, with Schmidt and Panko retiring from the event. On the Double File Restart “Shootout Style”, Foose continued to lead with Eric Bannenberg along side. Bannenberg ducked in behind Foose while rookie Ron Hart lead the freight train on the outside. Hart took the lead but contact with Foose, who led the inside lane sent Hart spinning collecting Jordan Morris and Walt Sova. Again on the restart Foose chose the inside while Bannenberg was forced to the outside lane as the field came to the green flag with one lap to go. Bannenberg and Foose raced side by side, even touching doors on the SuperStretch. Entering Turn 3, Bannenberg came down touching Foose’s right side and sending the #00 into the outside wall. This time the crash collected Steve Buhala, John Caddell, Justin McLeod, Jordan Morris and Bannenberg. Foose cruised to the checkered flag, while Jake Morris and Walt Sova finished second and third respectively. Jeff Lyden, who brushed the outside wall mid way through the race was fourth, while Justin McLeod drove through the dust and smoke to complete the top five.
The win was Foose’s third in the Craftsman Shootout with the other wins coming in 2006 and 2007. It was the second consecutive victory for the #42, as he won the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway last November and was the fourth win in his last six ASRS Camping World Truck Series races.
The ASRS Camping World Truck Series hits the track on Thursday, February 12th for the NextEra Energy Resources 125, the first of 25 races for the trucks.
