Trucks ready for first green flag of 2010!

(DAYTONA BEACH,FL) The Craftsman Shootout takes the green flag tonight at Daytona International Speedway, it’s a green flag that signals the beginning of another race season, full of potential and sure to be full of surprises and excitement around every corner.

The Craftsman Shootout is a high energy, exciting action packed sprint race.  For the second year in a row, the field is set by the top three teams from each manufacturer in 2009 Owners Points.  The 2010 field is a star studded line-up that includes past winners Jim Foose (2006, 2007), Jake Morris (2008), and Walt Sova (2009).  Foose is the only series champion to be in the field.  Last year’s Rookie of the Year, Jeff Lyden will be joined in the event by 2010 rookies Robert Panko and Ron Hart.  Race winners Jordan Morris, Eric Bannenberg and John Caddell will also be in the field.  Craig Schmidt, Justin McLeod and Steve Buhala round out the 12 truck field.

Jake Morris flipping in 2009 Craftsman Shootout

Last year’s event saw Jake Morris pop up on the FAA’s radar as he flew through the air in the tri-oval mid way through the race, while teammate Walt Sova took the checkered flag the field was stacking up off of turn 4.

Racing kicks off tonight at 8:30PM Eastern Time with the Driver’s Meeting.  The green flag is scheduled for 8:55PM.

The American Sim Racing Series has seen continued growth since its birth in 2002.  Since 2005, some of the biggest names in short track sim racing have raced in the American Sim Racing Series, making it America’s #1 Online Short Track League.  For more information on the ASRS visit www.americansimracing.com.
